The Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Ural Polytechnic Institute was organized on October 6, 1919.
In 2012, the Faculty of Civil Engineering was renamed the Institute of Civil Engineering.
In 2017, the Institute of Civil Engineering was renamed to the Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the Ural Federal University.
The Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture has been a supplier of specialists for construction and design organizations for over 90 years. Our graduates successfully work not only in the Ural region, but also in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and other cities of Russia and abroad. The institute has trained over 25,000 highly qualified engineers for the construction industry during these years. B.N. Yeltsin - the first President of Russia is a graduate of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, our university bears his name today.
Foreign students have been studying at our institute since September 1946.
The architectural specialty was opened at the institute in 1947, and in June 1953 the first graduation of architects took place.
In September 1982 the Faculty of Civil Engineering moved to a new building at 17 Mira Street.
Today the Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture has 10 departments, a large number of multimedia classrooms, six computer classes, and four scientific laboratories. 180 teachers and researchers train students, including a co-recipient of the Nobel Prize, Academician of the New York Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Washington Academy of Sciences, five Honorary Builders of Russia, eleven Honorary Workers of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, three Advisers of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, twelve doctors and sixty-eight candidates of sciences.
The Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture has been a member of the European Civil Engineering Education and Training Association – EUCEET since 2014.
