Department of Water Industry and Water Treatment
The research topics of the Department of Water Industry and Water Treatment:
- Development of closed systems of water treatment for industrial enterprises and technologies for the treatment and dewatering of industrial wastewater sediments (V.I. Aksenov, Yu.A. Galkin, I.I. Nichkova, N.S. Tsaryov). The systems are implemented at machine-building and metallurgical enterprises of the Sverdlovsk region, in others regions of Russia, as well as in Japan, Germany, Ukraine, etc .;
- Development of physical-chemical methods of wastewater and natural water treatment using ultra- and nanofiltration membranes and creation of “Akvaros” installations for additional purification of groundwater, tap water for the needs of urban residents, cottage villages and rural settlements (E.V. Migalati, O.B. Naschetnikova, G.B. Brayalovsky). Installations have various modifications and effectively work with the "heavy" waters of the Ural region. Hundreds of installations are implemented in residential houses, school buildings, kindergartens, and other organizations. Membrane installations are also successfully used in wastewater treatment of many industrial enterprises;
- Sorption technologies for purification of natural and waste waters from radionuclides, heavy metals, surfactants (A.F. Nikiforov);
- Optimization of the work of activated sludge tank in order to reduce emissions of pollutants (Yu. O. Grigoriev);
- At the department under the guidance of Professor E.V. Migalatiy Innovative Enterprise UrFU LLC “BMB” was created and successfully works in the field of the purification of natural, and tap water and the introduces of membrane and sorption methods in water treatment technology and local treatment of industrial water.

The research topics of the Department of Industrial, Civil Engineering and Property Expertise:
- Development of new organizational-technological and constructive solutions of cast-in-place and prefabricated combined with cast-in-place reinforced concrete structures for improving their performance;
- Improvement of prefabricated structures at the stages of manufacturing, transportation and installation;
- Building structures with the use of composite materials based on carbon and basalt nanotubes;
- Determination of the technical condition of buildings and structures for their normal operation;
- Research of innovative potential of prefabricated with cast-in-place reinforced concrete systems of civil buildings;
- Development of market relations in the housing and utilities and investment and construction complexes: theory, methodology and practice;

- Development of interdisciplinary bases for the security of large critical systems and infrastructures in normal and emergency situations;
- Safety, reliability, diagnostics, monitoring and comprehensive risk management of the operation of potentially hazardous facilities and critical infrastructures and territories;
- Development of the fundamentals of computer and physical modeling of the deformation and destruction of materials, structures, systems, including in conditions of man-made and natural disasters;
- Monitoring of the stress-strain state of buildings and structures during construction and operation;
- Analysis of the stress-strain state and design of unique buildings and structures, taking into account progressive collapse;
- Analysis of wind and snow loads on unique buildings and structures, optimization of design solutions.

- Assessment of the possibility of using central air conditioning systems with two-stage evaporative cooling in the conditions of the Middle Urals;

Department of Price Formation in Construction and Industry
The research topics of the Department of Price Formation in Construction and Industry:
- Development of the theoretical and methodological foundations of the functioning and management model of the investment and construction complex (ICC) of the Ural region as a complex system in the context of the innovative development of Russia, the modernization of its industry;
- Development of a package of semi-formalized models (tuple, algorithmic and criterion) of the life cycle of the ICC for a rigorous description of individual aspects of its activities, for analyzing and predicting the quality of decisions made;
- Development and implementation of a system for monitoring the state of the investment and construction complex of the region, as well as building an optimal management model for the ICC to increase the competitive advantage of the industry in the business environment;
- Clarification of the essence of the project approach to the functioning of the construction business, which consists in a transition from a purely monetarist concept (operational approach, profitability indicators) to a humanistic concept (performance, including social responsibility of business); proposed a new system for evaluating the effectiveness of enterprises and organizations in the post-crisis period, which is based on the indicators of three blocks: performance, efficiency and profitability);
- Development of a resource-technological model database for the calculation and formation of indicators of changes in the cost of construction;
- Development of the territorial estimate base of TSNBTER in the Sverdlovsk region; development of standards and pricing.
